“Can the TV OUT be connected to a regular HDMI input on Samsung older HDTV with standard HDMI inputs? Will the sound transfer back to the reciever? That way I'd connect all components via HDMI (blue ray, directv ,and dvd audio player.)”

Yes. If you turn pass through on you can watch using the TV speakers or turn the amp on and have surround sound with whatever input you choose.
