You’ll get much better audio quality if you plug the speakers into the receiver, if they can handle the power. If not you should get new speakers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you are using the AV receiver to send sound to your speakers, you don't need to use the optical port. Your HDMI cable will transmit the sound to receiver, and receiver will put the sound out to the speakers. That would be my recommendation because the AV receiver will amplify the sound. You COULD run digital optical jack directly from Blu-Ray player to speakers, but if that's the plan why even have an AV receiver?
