They are atmos speakers i would not use them as rear speakers in the "bed" portion of atmos. I dont think they will sound as good as actual "bookshelf" speakers!

You probably could, depending on the distance. They have ability to be used as loud speakers. I use them as atmos because I can mount them on my ceiling because of their size.
