You need a stereo reciever to make them work, otherwise they won’t work at all.

It would be a waste to use these as anything other than an atmos setup. You can find cheaper smaller “satellite” speakers that will do the job. Also check out some of the in-wall/ceiling Speakers if you need the space.

Yes these speakers can be used as regular speakers that connect to receiver with speaker wire.

I would not recommend it. They are not ment for that , the frequency response will not be their.
