I purchased 2 speakers with a sub woofer that sit between my couch and over sized chair, the sound is excellent, I can adjust sound level where I want it to be

Since the speakers point downward, the high frequencies don't project well in front of the TV. Adjusting the equalizer doesn't help much either.

I'm not really happy with the speakers on this television. It sounds muted. I'm older as well and will probably have to purchase a soundbar. Very surprised that Sony cut corners on an important feature.

The sound it very good. We bought it for an older relative who has some hearing problems and has found the sound satisfactory.
