“Is it possible to put the legs in backwards? In other words the left leg on the right side and the right in the left? The way the legs are made this looks like this would make them about 2 inches closer together.”

The legs on mine measure 41 1/2 inches front and back when measured up close to the console front and back. I think the legs snap into place as I remember.
