Hi JQ. We always recommend using the factory setting on the tv. Since it is subjective, you can always adjust the picture settings on the TV's menu based on your own preference. Upscaling works automatically, the tv will enhance the resolution of the picture you are watching, and this TV can do that very well. Best regards, -Mark
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use the Spear & Munsil Calibration Bluray. There are literally dozens of settings I had to change to get the TV to have the right calibration details, and those will be dependent on your room, where it is mounted, etc. Mine is wall mounted in the corner of my living room. I live up in the mountains at about 9,000 feet, so we get exceptionally bright days - therefore I suspect my TV's brightness settings will be a bit higher than most. One thing to know is that every input has its own settings. So, if you have your BluRay plugged into Input 2 (as I do), and you do your calibration using the BluRay, those calibration settings do not impact the other inputs. You will need to write down all of the calibration settings and enter them again into the other inputs. So, I do know how frustrating it is when someone gives you advice, but doesn't answer your question. Below are my settings - feel free to give them a shot if you want - can't hurt, and perhaps it will get you close. However, I would suggest finding the Spear & Munsil Calibration BluRay somewhere. It is a great tool. Standard Menu: Auto Mode - Off Brightness - 37 Color - 74 Light Sensor - Off Advanced Menu: Contrast - Max Black Level - 52 Color - 74 Hue - 0 Color Temp - Expert 1 Clarity Sharpness - 77 Reality Creation - Off Random Noise Reduction - Medium Digital Noise Reduction - Medium Hope this helps.
