• Even my 12 year old home theater had a optical cable for this purpose. Use the optical audio/video.

• I used a cable with RCA inputs on one end and the headphone jack on the other to hook this TV up to my sound bar. It works perfectly but I don't know if this connection will fully exploit the capabilities of your Yamaha.

• there should be a splitter converter made for an HDMI to RCA made

• If you're just passing audio from the TV to the sound, use optical if you can; otherwise, it's probably time to upgrade your sound setup.
