“I can't seem to get my Sony HT-CT290/Sound Bar to work correctly with the TV and my UBP-X700 Blu ray DVD player. Some disc play fine and others have no sound, after previews it switches to internal tv sound. I use ARC.”

ARC for the soundbar and HDMI 4 Or if your others are open to use; HDMI 2 - should fix the problem. My soundbar is (Lg) is not recognized either as it is not a Sony soundbar, yet it performs normally using the ARC HDMI connection. Check your Disc Player Settings to insure that it lets the TV's volume control - control it, try Sync settings via the TV also.
