I experienced some initial malfunction as well. I went to Sony's eSupport site and entered my exact model number and it generated a different code that was in the manual. After I entered that code into the remote, it ran as advertised. No problems since. In your beach field just enter "Sony remote codes" and use the listing that is the Sony site. That "should" get you back in the game.
