I was told by Magnolia rep that: 1. it will simulate and use all 7 so with Atmos. 2. To get true Atmos you will need source such as 4k playe or Apple TV 4kr. 3 Even though Netflix app on TV shows Atmos it may not push via ARC. I will test all of this once i receive my unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Source has to be ATMOS to get true ATMOS. Cannot use ARC to get ATMOS. Arc does not support this yet and TVs do not pass ATMOS to receiver. HDMI 2.1 which is just starting to make its way into electronics in 2018 have eARC which can support ATMOS from tv. Only way currently is to have source such as blue ray player that sends ATMoS data via hdmi (not ARC which is from tv) directly to Soundbar or receiver that supports ATMOS (or dts:x if using that format instead) to decode and output 7.1.2 sound out of speaker. U may still get sound from all speakers if not ATMOS or DTSX source but it’s not true surround. To make it simpler to understand. If u play a song out of 5 speakers, it may sound surround like but different if each speaker outputs a different instrument, which is more similar to true surround 7.1 etc when only the back speakers output a bullet flying past u from left to right. Yes Dolby digital does do that but not as detailed as ATMOS. Google difference in Dolby digital (5.1), Dolby plus (7.1) Dolby true HD, and Dolby ATMOS (which is like 7.1.4 I think)
