• I have a 2 year old Sony XBR series TV and the sound bar is connected to my HDMI 4/ARC slot. I'm able to control the sound bar volume with my regular Sony TV remote and my DirectTV remote.

• Yes. Using the ARC HDMI port on your TV and sound bar, your TV remote will easily control the volume of your sound bar.

• If your Sony TV has the Bravia feature, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that finally you can control your external sound speakers with just the Sony TV remote. I have the Sony Model No. KDL60W630B/2 TV and that remote controls 90% of the features of my Sony soundbar.
