“Is there a screen protection film on the screen when shipped? I assume it ships with protection that needs to be peeled off-correct?”

There was no removable screen protectant film on my boxed/new XBR65a9g. The screen is obnoxiously reflective in addition to providing an excellent picture. When TV is mounted using the provided stand, the TV is canted/leaning back albeit slightly. At table height, this exacerbates the visibility of lamps reflecting on the screen.

No, mine did not come with a protective film on the screen. It was covered with a plastic bag like cover and a plastic film around the outside frame of the tv

There is not one on the screen itself, but along the outer edge of the screen.

There is not. The entire tv was wrapped with the protective cover.
