Hello NorthwoodsGuy, thank you for your interest in our Sony cameras. Not recording internally will help with the overheating but not completely remove it, for longer operations I would recommend a more recent model.

Please try again later.that brings up the obvious next question, what does a person look for in descript of newer DSLR types that have resolved internal heating issues allowing for longer live streaming? The DSLR lenses offer greater resolution and sharper imaging than webcams, for what I'm planning. Appreciated
