“I currently have an older Sony DVD/CD/BluRay player that i bought several years ago with 5 speakers a bundled package. My question is..will this Sony BDP-S6700 allow me to hook up my 5 speakers? My speakers are fine, just my DVD/BluRay player is going bad”

It depends on how your current speakers are connected. The only output on this player is an HDMI port. I have mine connected to an AV receiver which is connected to 7 speakers and the sound quality is excellent. You need some sort of interface between the DVD player and your speakers. I presume you have something now, that allows the current speakers to connect to your DVD player.
