As such, it cannot directly power a multi-channel surround sound speaker system. To enjoy your Blu-ray player with a surround sound setup, you must connect it to an A/V receiver or a separate surround sound system. The receiver will then handle all audio processing and amplification, sending the sound to your speakers. Connection Overview: 1. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on the BDP-S1700U to an available HDMI IN port on your A/V receiver. 2. Connect a second HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on your A/V receiver to an HDMI IN port on your TV. This setup ensures the A/V receiver receives the high-quality audio signal from the Blu-ray player while passing the video signal on to your TV.
