Hi AdamA, Standard Sony Blu-ray players sold in the United States, including the BDP-S1700U, are coded for Region 1 (North America) DVDs and Region A Blu-rays. Because the UK uses Region 2 for DVDs and Region B for Blu-rays, these discs will not be compatible with a standard US model. Thanks for choosing Sony. Best regards, Eliab
