For optimal sound, the system is designed to use two speakers at the front (left and right of the TV) and two at the rear, surrounding your viewing position to create a 360 Spatial Sound Mapping field. The system’s Sound Field Optimization automatically calibrates the sound to your room's acoustics and speaker placement, even if the placement is not perfectly symmetrical. Regarding dialogue, the Quad system performs an excellent job of creating a "phantom" center channel between the front speakers. If you have a compatible Sony BRAVIA TV, connecting it via the S-CENTER SPEAKER IN port will enable Acoustic Center Sync to use the TV's speakers for dialogue, which can improve the feeling that voices are coming directly from the screen.
