“I have this subwoofer hooked to insignia powered speakers. When I turn volume down on speakers, subwoofer is over powering. I have to disconnect sub in order to listen at low volume. Is this normal?”

It's a 115W subwoofer so its going to kick out very loud sound. Simply turn the volume down using the volume knob in the back of it to get a balanced sound

Then go and watch a couple of Youtube videos regarding balancing the output of all your speakers including the Sub. You should be able to get everything at the same level by using the Normal or Reverse Phaser switch in the back of the unit and a well configured sound between the Sub and powered speakers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Not sure why you are attaching the woofer to speakers instead of the source of sound (receiver or player). We attached it to our new 7.2 receiver and works PERFECTLY! Plug and play. I don't think this woofer works with pass-through speakers.
