“I have a 2003 Yamaha HTR-5760 Receiver with a PRE-OUT connection for the Subwoofer. The manual says to connect a subwoofer with a built in amplifier. This should work, right? Is that why it's a PRE-OUT jack? So the sub can do the amplification itself?”

• A pre-out is just to connect the sound so any subwoofer with a built in amp will work.

• Yes, just connect the pre out connection from the receiver to the active subwoofer line IN, this should work.
