“I just bought a Yamaha R-S202 receiver from Best Buy. It states " if you connect speakers with an excessively low impedance, this unit may overheat ". It says this unit is 6 ohms which is less than the 8 they recommend. is that going to be a problem ?”

Hi PCSanJose, Thank you so much for your interest in our SA-CS9 115W 10” Active Subwoofer. When matching speakers and subwoofer with lower impedance (ohms) than what the A/V receiver is rated may cause damage to the receiver and is not recommended. I hope this helps! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This would be a problem for your speakers with 6 ohms impedance hooked up to an A/V receiver that recommends 8 ohms only or higher. The subwoofer however, has it's own built in amplifier, which would not affect the impedance requirements in and of itself. Don't worry about the subwoofer, but do worry about impedance matching for your other speakers. Hope this makes sense!
