Yes. The older receivers from my experience have more power. But they lack the new technology. If I was you I would save up for a newer model

This Center Speaker will handle any system you place it on. Your output experience solely depends on your system. I held an old system for as long as I could with this speaker until it finally conked on me. It was outdated to the new Sony str-dh770, which is a far superior to my old Alpine.

Not sure if this helps, but it's just a standard 2 channel using speaker wire, no other connections are on the speaker.
