No or I have not figured out how to do it yet.

Unfortunately, this model does NOT take stills while recording video. I'm hoping that Sony corrects this in a future firmware release. In the meantime, this camera takes very good video in adequate lighting and it's very easy to trap stills from the video using a video player like the free VLC player.
