Hi Shey, SEL50F18F is compatible with a3000 but with certain restrictions. The SteadyShot (integrated image stabilization technologies used in Sony cameras) is not supported and when in standby in movie mode, and during movie recording, it switches to manual focus (MF). The lense is perfect for portraiture and a range of other subjects. It may also be used for an outdoor maternity shoot. Check out the links below for more details:

Great all around lens for scenic to portrait, will be great for your maternity gig. Fast shutter and has a nice bokeh so you can do some nice intimate shots with the background blown out of focus. Good luck!

Yes this lens would work for a maternity shoot. The effective focal range on the a6300 would be around 82mm, but yes it is compatible/

Yes, it will work just fine, and make a great portrait lens for the A3000.
Its sharp and the bokeh is great.

If you have the extra cash however go for the Zeiss 55mm 1.8. Its even sharper, with no noises while focusing, and almost no Chromatic abberation when wide open.
