“I have an older LG TV (max1080p). It has an HDMI port but I don't believe it's HDMI arc. 1 digital audio (optical) port. Will the sound bar work with with a my tv? It's really old.”

If no arc input you need to be able to have inputs directly into soundbar to get Dolby Atmos. You will get just stereo sound if you don't. Also it depends on the level of the soundbar. 2.1. 3.1.1. 5.1.2. etc. that determines the sound mix.
