• You need to have a PlayStation 5 because it connects to and runs the game from the PS5 and casts the screen to the PlayStation portal. So no, you cannot play without a PlayStation.

• I do have a PlayStation 5 but rarely use it for mirroring. Mostly the streaming feature.
