Open box items are just products that have been opened by a customer and returned for whatever reason. If the previous customer was honest and told Best Buy that the item was defective, it will go back to the manufacturer. Manufacturer warranty is still intact. It's basically a personal decision on whether you are comfortable with buying an item that was opened and returned (history unknown).
