the digital is just digital games you buy online and the disks are physical game disks. itd be smarter to buy the disk version incase you want to resell it but i only download games so it makes more sense for me to buy the digital.

The only difference is, the regular one has a slot for discs, the digital one does not. With that there is a size difference and weight difference, but all other specs are the exact same.

And not to sound rude but that's just the difference and to be honest I believe you should purchase the disc version for a hundred more becuz u can only buy games on the PlayStation store with digital version at release price aka new which is 59.99 n this is few months after the release date verses going to a store n getting a game at 39.99 which is used or getting a game from a friend aka borrowing for a few days with the digital one you got to pay $60 for games if there's no sale.

The digital edition has no disc input or output so you would be able to buy games completly virtual while the normal ps5 can have a disc input and output. Games should run the tinyest bit faster on the dihital edition since the game isnt always trying to run the disc input

I love how people answer the question so simply and they're not that helpful. They are correct but not in full detail. So the digital version is perfect for those who do not want to collect disc games. They rather download their games online and store onto their PS online account onto their digital PS5 version which is $399.99 dollars. The $499.99 are for those who want to collect disc and insert into their PS5 console. As for me, I want to continue collecting disc games so of course, I will get the $499.99. My little brother doesn't collect disc games and only buys his games through the Playstation store so he will most likely want the PS5 Digital Version for $399.99. If you or anyone still don't get this then just get the $499.99 and it'll be the same as all of the Playstation 1 to PS4 so you won't be confused at all. LOL

The difference is: the digital version can only play downloadable games, while the regular version has a Blu-Ray reader (which costs $100).
