No as long as you have not activated in on the playstation network. For example. I bought a game and it came with a 30 day playstation plus free trial. I purchased a 12 month membership card as well. I activated the trial and once it ran out i activated the 12 month membership and virtually Got 13 months Of PlayStation plus. so to answer your question you can sit on the card as long as you want as long as you don't activate it on the playstation network
