According to PlayStation, as long as you have a strong wifi signal and have remote play activated on the PS5, you can use it anywhere.

Yes. I had thought it had to be on your home wifi network. It does not. According to Sony, wherever you are, the wifi network should handle at least 5Mbps to work, but 15Mbps is preferred for better experience, stability (against drops, etc.)

It has to be a completely open WIFI network. IT CAN NOT REQUIRE A LOGIN! Don't listen to these other answers. I promise you I'm 100% correct. You also have to a a really strong connection and that's IF you're lucky. I've already seen several people jump through tons of hoops. Everything from Hard Wiring PS5 (Ethernet) to allowing port forwarding and even getting designated gaming routers. If you want ease you're better off looking for a different device.

Everyone is repeating each other and no one is giving you the complete answer. The correct answer is yes but whatever Wi-Fi you use it on it has to be completely open, it CAN NOT require a login or it will NOT work. It also has to have a really strong connection if you want it to run good and that's IF you get lucky. I've already seen plenty people jump through several hoops everything from making sure their PS5 is hardwired (Ethernet) and also opening up port forwarding as well as getting specific gaming routers. Don't expect it to be anything close to flawless. If you want ease on the go you're better off looking at the Backbone, Steam Deck, Switch ect.

Im not sure where these other answers are coming from, But Sony very clearly states on their product page and in their demos that this ONLY works on your HOME wifi; they very clearly specify it has to be on the SAME wifi network as your PS5. It is my understanding they have "discussed" MAYBE adding remote play away from the home as a later feature but that has not been promised.

Yes you can, you can take it anywhere if your PS5 is connected to a strong Wifi network. But for my understanding, I would NOT recommend getting this handheld device.

Your PS5 will need to be on in order to do anything of the sort. It's more of a system that you can take to the other side of the house. Useful if you have a two-story house, and want to play in both stories, but beyond that. Not much is usable.
