Hi Rich, The SRSXB22 is a 2019 model while the XB21 is from the previous year. The battery capacity of the XB22 is 2800mAh compared to 2700mAh of the XB21. Here's an updated version: If you're using 2 speakers of the same type and using "Speaker Add"-mode so you get left and right channels separated to different speakers, the xb22 is better. xb21's will go out of sync if you check the battery level while the music is playing. To fix this, you must disconnect the bluetooth from your phone and reconnect. xb22's will allow you to check the battery and continue playing music in sync after the "battery power xx percent left" announcement.
