Hi Trapper, yes, this speaker is loud enough to block out engine noise at normal speeds on gravel roads and trails. We do not recommend using zip ties to mount this unit as it may not be stable enough especially when you're driving through rough terrain. It is shockproof, it can withstand drops from up to 4ft.
