A:AnswerFor you sonto play analog LP's you need 3 pieces, a turntable, speakers, and an amplifier with a phono input.
This receiver does NOT have a phono input. You could purchase a separate phono preamp but it would be cost prohibitive. Look for a receiver wiht a built-in one as they used to be a standard feature and did not add much to the cost.
A:AnswerI'm sorry, it does not. On the back there is a connection that at first glance looks like it might be an optical input, but that's merely the antenna connection. The 590 and 790 models do have the optical digital input, but they're the pricier 5.2 and 7.2 channel models.
I use the DH190 as a subwoofer amp and the DH790 as the primary (via HDMI), and can vouch that both sound terrific, but I do have the 790 outputting its signal to the 190 via red and white analog RCA jacks.
A:AnswerHi Charles, Thank you for your interest in the Sony STRDH190 receiver! This unit supports 90 W RMS power x 2 channels (8 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 1%). Hope this helps!
Whether you choose to enjoy the warm sound of vinyl via the phono input , or stream music from your digital music collection, you’ve found a perfect match. Don’t forget the receiver’s A=B function lets you connect two pairs of speakers. You can easily switch between A or B or use them all together at the same time. When you factor in the low-profile design, we’re sure you’ve found the flexibility and performance you’ve been looking for!

A:AnswerHi Kit, Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, no. An equalizer/external amp needs to be connected to the tape monitor loop on an AV receiver in order to operate. The current line of Sony® receivers do not have a tape monitor loop. For this reason, it is not possible to connect an add-on equalizer/external amp to current Sony® AV receivers.
NOTE:
Most Sony® receivers feature a built in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Equalizer. The addition of an equalizer is not needed, and would provide no additional benefit to the overall sound output of the receiver.
Hope this helps!

A:AnswerIf the switch box is an impedence matching device. This receiver output stage expects an 8 ohm load so if your box says it shows an 8 ohm load, you should be fine.
What the boxes usually do is take the inputs and wire them in series to increase the impedence and protect the amplifier. With 4 speakers you can take groups of two and wire them in series, and then run the two groups in parallel to achieve the required 8 ohm impedence.
A:AnswerHi Matt, Thanks for the inquiry! This receiver doesn't have a digital optical input, but it has 4 RCA audio IN and 1 audio OUT ports. And it also supports Phono input jacks for connecting a turntable. I'd suggest checking out the Sony STR-DH590 if you're looking for a receiver that supports digital optical input. Hope this helps!

A:AnswerHi VoltageNewbie, Good question. The two types of outputs on this receiver are amplified for speakers or for headphones. There are no outputs that this receiver has that will directly connect to the speakers. You would likely need to look into a studio equipment. Hope this helps!

A:AnswerNo it only allows you to connect a Bluetooth device to have the sound play thru the receivers speakers. Like a phone, computer, mp3 player, and the like.
A:AnswerYes. You can select the OHMS in speaker setup. Keep on mind tho, that option is only available using the remote, you cannot do it on the receiver directly
A:AnswerHi there, Good question! It will work as long as the speakers are within the impedance range of 6-16 ohms. Hope this helps! A:AnswerHi emmod72, Good question! When you connect all the speakers with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms or higher, set “SP IMP.” to “8 OHM”. In other connections, set it to “6 OHM”. Hope this helps!
