“Why doesn't my surround right and left speakers work when I set it up for 5.1:2 high speakers. I do not have rear surround speakers. Only front right and left and surround right and left.”

Hi Chuck, The 5.1.2 speaker pattern will only work if you have additional speakers connected to the surround back speaker terminal of the receiver. I would recommend performing an auto-calibration to allow the unit to automatically configure your speaker setup. Hope this helps! -Sam
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have you checked that they are connected to the correct surround on the receiver? If so, when doing setup (which diplays on your tv) you need to set the correct pattern. I remember seeing the option for height surround. Once selected for height, calibrate with mic and you should get distance set. The last thing to do is increase the volume for your heights once the calibration is saved, if they are not loud enough. Good luck, you are almost ready to enjoy. I love the sound this receiver produces. I'm using the surrounds on the side and rear surrounds. My surrounds definently work. I had to increase the volume in both about 4 levels because I want that surround atmosphere that some movies offer. Oh. Keep in mind the heights are for 1.) atmos 2.) atmos tracks that have a need for overhead effects. Heights may be limited in their sound because the audio does not allow for it.
