“I haven't taken the plunge and purchased a 4K TV yet cause it seems silly to make a substantial investment like that when the 1080 is still working..is it possible to connect this w/ the standard 1080 tv until it is time to move up to a 4k television?”

Hi CuriosoJorge, yes, this Bluray player will work great on a 1080 TV. If the time comes for an upgrade, we recommend getting a Sony TV for full compatibility and the best picture quality.
