Hello- after I updated the software, I lost audio on hdmi as well. Plus, the home screen fades out intermittently. I'm hoping Sony expedites a fix asap, because I currently can't use it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You won't get any audio out of HDMI #2 on the UBP-X800 player if your HDMI #1 on the player isn't plugged into the ARC HDMI channel on the TV, usually HDMI #3. The HDMI #2 on the player is an alternative to the coaxial audio output of the player. If you want to trouble shoot the HDMI #2 on the player, then get a coaxial (orange) cable and connect it to your receiver/audio amplifier. You should then have audio from your discs and streaming apps. You may have to go into setup to change the audio output settings on the player and perhaps even the audio input setting of your receiver/audio amplifier to get the audio of your content. If your TV doesn't have a HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC), then the coaxial cable is your only alternative for audio. The sound quality of HDMI and coaxial output is equivalent as they are both outputting the same digital audio data. BTW, if you purchased your UBP-X800 player from Best Buy, it comes with free set-up from their Magnolia group.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have you tried unplugging the player for a minute , then plugging it back in to the power supply ?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My audio seems ok , but I have some issues with picture quality especially dark or night scenes. It looks like a light cloud of smoke comes in and out of the scene.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had problems with this as well, coupled with the fact that I have an older surround amp that does not support HDMI inputs or 7.1 LPCM audio. I bought an HDMI to audio converter ($25, Amazon) to break out the 5.1 signal through an optical output, which my amp can process. I still had trouble until I set the UBP 800 audio output to HDMI 2, not the AUTO position. After making the change, I had to turn the player, tv, amp and converter off, then back on so all equipment reconfigured itself. It now works, and I can get DTS as well as Dolby Digital into my amp.
