4/6/17 If your "older" tv uses HDMI 1.4, and not HDMI 2.0, I recommend you use the CERTIFIED HDMI 2.0 cables because the Sony 4K player will upscale to near 4K. Sony X800 states it will support 3D discs, but it requires the 18 GBPS HDMI 2.0. The 2.0 cables are backward compatible. The Dolby ATMOS sounds awesome! I love to use the Bluetooth headphones with it. Also, I read certain 4K HDR discs that play at 60 fps, rather than 24 fps, require the 2.0 cables. Better to be future proof.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as I know, if your not going to use the player for 4K and hdr, you should be fine without it. But the unit does come with 1 18gbs hdmi cable. (4ft)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I personally wouldn't spend the extra money for a 4K player if I didn't have a 4K TV, but no, any cheap high speed cable should work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the 18 Gbps is only required if you want to watch 4K HDR. It won't hurt to use 18Gbps, but will not improve picture going to non 4K TV, because it's a digital signal. It's all about the bandwith of what you want to send from source to display. My recommendation is find the cheapest HDMI cable you can find for your needs and go from there.
