Hi Lonely, No. Sony UBP-X1000ES is not a region-free Blu-ray player. This will play region code 1 (DVD) and region code A (BD). Regards, Vincent

No, unfortunately it is not. It can, however, be modified to region-free status...if you know someone who knows how to do it. After much searching, I found a TV repair service with a technician who knew how to do it. The cost was far less than what they charge on eBay for a region-free player with 3D capability.
