“My Sony UBP-X800M2 used to play 4k discs fine, but just stopped & I got does not recognize disc message. Plays regular blu-ray fine. I tried several 4k discs that it used to play - no joy! Thanks, Joda”

Responding to ConnieG: No, I have not used it for streaming. I found an older 4k movie (Star Trek) that did play for me. I tried unplugging for 10 minutes, but same results. I also tried using compressed air to blow out the inside of the player (several different times), as best I could through the disc tray, thinking the laser lens might have gotten dust on it. I also reset the player. All to no avail.

Maybe you got virus? Did you try unplugging waiting 10 minutes? I would contact sony i never had any probs with sony product! I had my first bluray player for over 10 years then it stopped working! I had another bluray still plays to date ! Now i finally got 4 k bluray n 4 k tv sony!
