“I have very sensitive ears. Are the earbuds that come with the unit hard or are they covered with a soft plastic? If they are hard, can the sound be heard with the unit fitting around the neck. I want them for water jogging.”

My Sony Walkman came with two styles of earbuds. One for underwater and one for land use. Both are soft pliable rubber and the band around the head and over ears is covered with a softer rubber. The only part which is hard is the actual MP3 player/speakers which should rest outside your ear. If you are still worried I would suggest stopping at a store in person and seeing if they have a pair you can look at and touch.

They are soft rubber like material like on typical earphones. There are three different sizes in both styles for a better custom fit. So in all you get six earbuds. If you got headphones with your phone that is not an iPhone, they will be made the same way. If you are using them for water activities you will use the waterproof earbuds and test your size, they come with medium regular buds on the unit. The swim buds are in a separate baggy and all the buds are color coded so you can see which ones are the same size. Which is an added bonus. Hope this helps. I really like mine. I find myself putting them on even to just walk the dog. At least you know with BB you can return them if they don't work out. But I would suggest you try them.
