“Is their any way of getting around purchasing membership for the surround sound? I am not a fan about having a hidden subscription service that I was unaware of before I purchased the headset.”

Hi wking, There is no mandatory subscription for the 360 Spatial Audio software, but you would need to use a music service that supports that format. Those music subscriptions do have a monthly cost.
