“Is there another way to control these headphones without using the outer cans if you’re laying in bed and your accident hit the can with your elbow or your hand it doesn’t change does the outer cans lock and can you use the app instead?”

use the free "Sound Connect" app to control the settings for the headphones. From there, tap on "Ambient Sound Control" (the first setting you'll see) and then you want to go to system settings tab where you can turn off "Touch sensor control panel".
