I think your case is unique. I haven't heard about noise cancelling causing pain. I have both the Sony and Bose and all I can say is that they are similar, but with the Sony you can adjust the level of NC so that it has less effect in their App. By default, the Sony has a bit of a hiss. It's worth a shot.

Please try again later.Sony has an interesting feature called pressure adjustment - it calibrates the noise cancelling based on the ambient atmospheric pressure (hold the noise canceling button to perform the calibration), I think that might help you, give it a try! I don't have any discomfort with either Bose QC35 or Sony so I can't really tell for sure.
