QuestionHi, I just read that these headphones should be charged thru a booted computer. Does that mean I can’t use a wall charger for this? I’m a frequent traveler and I don’t always a laptop or pc around. Can I not just plug it in thru a wall adapter?

- Answer Hi JMS, though it is recommended that you charge these headphones using a computer, using a commercially-available USB AC adaptor (sold separately) capable of feeding in 1.5A or 0.5A is also an option. QuestionCan anyone who has used these AND the Bose QC35 comment on the overall comfort for long trips? The QC35s are good, but I can't wear them for more than 3-4 hours before my outer ears start to hurt from the pressure from the cups.

- Answer Just got back from my first trip with these and I also own the Bose QC 35. From a comfort standpoint they are pretty comparable. I just measured the inside dimensions of the ear cups on both and they are pretty close to being the same height and width at the largest point. I do find the noise cancellation and sound quality of the Sony pair to be better than the QC 35s

QuestionDoes the recently unveiled new version of MDR-1000x (WH-1000XM2) support multiple bluetooth connections as does Bose's QC 35 and all the other high-end wireless headphones? That was the only reason I haven't purchased the MDR-1000x.

- Answer It does remember multiple BT connections, and can connect to a music profile and audio(phone) profile simultaneously, but not to two music streams simultaneously.

Questionolder model had the issue of the headset powering down while on bluetooth if there is no music going thru and trying to use the noise cancellation. I used a cut off headset jack as a bypass to resolve this. did Sony correct this issue with this model?

QuestionI just purchased this headphone from Best Buy and they are overall incredible. However, every time I make a move there is a creaking sound from the left earpiece. I think it’s mechanical not electronic and it is annoying. Is this normal? Return them?

QuestionJust 2 things I'm really worried about before buying them: the reported headband cracks issue of the previous model and the led indicators: I've learned they are flashing continuously. Isn't it disturbing in darkness? Especially for someone near you?

- Answer From my experience (and was told from the other person on the line), you can hear the background sound on the other end. But the call was clear in the end. In the headphone, the NC tunes down so you hear the call and a small echo of you speaking (I experienced this when I was in "walking" mode in the app).

- Answer No, they are not, and they are also not suitable for humid or wet locations. That includes working out, as sweat may damage them.

- Answer I’ve had these headphones since they came out and have not had a problem with the head band showing signs of cracking. So far so good! Actually they seem to be solidly built to me.

- Answer I have been use the sony 1000xm2's for a month and they feel comfortable on my ears. However a colleague at work has the QC35 not the QC35 II and when I tried them on for comparison they felt more comfortable. I think the reason is that the earcups on the QC35 are wider side to side and the inside of the earcup has a steeper angle to allow for a more space for your ear to fit inside the earcup. For my ears the bose felt like they had more space inside the earcup for my ears. This also created a little more of a feeling that they were surrounding my ears. I think the inside of the sony's sit slightly against the outside of my ear which for long usage periods can be noticeable. They thing I notice about the bose comfort is that they are lighter so they don't feel like they "sit" on your head as much.

- Answer I've used them for an hour or so at a time, but surprisingly never feel sweaty. They're the most comfortable headphones I have, but the suction gets a bit too strong after about 15 min. You have to give them a quick lift from your ears to relieve the pressure. Understandable though & worth it for the excellent noise canceling. Hope that helps.

- Answer I use them in NYC streets all the time and they are great with cancelling noise from ambulances, firetrucks, horns, etc. It practically puts the city in silent mode. Never used it around fire works/guns so cannot comment on that but as you said noise cancellation is pretty good already without the ANC. I think it would do the job for you..

- Answer No, it doesn't activate when laying on a pillow, etc. It must detect induction from the body, so a pillow doesn't trigger it. The feature cannot be turned off.

- Answer I personally prefer these over the Bose QC35 because the noise cancelling is noticeably better. In that regard, they're worth the price for traveling. As far as the gym, I'm a runner so I use something more compact, but if you're going to be using them for cycling or weightlifting, they should be fine.

- Answer As of February 2018: If replacement ear pads are available for the Sony WH-1000XM2 headphones, I haven't been able to find them, and I've seriously looked. Love is a strong word, but I really love these headphones and I wanted to prepare for the day when the ear pads fall apart. No luck. Sony Parts doesn't even list them, and the third-party sites that specialize in replacement parts for headphones don't have them either, although they seem to have plenty for other brands. I did find a page describing how to remove the existing ear pads, but it was in an article on how to put ear pads from a different manufacturer's headphones onto the Sony headphones (it involved lots of cutting and gluing, which wasn't what I was interested in). Anyway, I'm carefully cleaning my ear pads with Armor All (frequently), fiercely guarding them from The Cat, and looking to the day that I'll have to do that cutting and gluing.

QuestionI have MEE audio transmitter. My current headphones always break up. Do these work well with Bluetooth transmitter? What is the max distance they can receive the signal? Mee uses Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX tech to create low latency high fidelity audio.

- Answer Max distance isn’t determined by receiver (ie the headphones in this case) but rather by the transmitter. If you are having issues I would recommend upgrading transmitter. These headphones work awesome with my Apple TV gen 3 and gen 4

Questioni got mine yesterday and i charged it for about 4-5 hours but it still wont turn on. i tried charging it through my computer and through a wall adapter but still no results. it does show a red/orange light when its plugged in a charger put won't turn on.
