I use them in NYC streets all the time and they are great with cancelling noise from ambulances, firetrucks, horns, etc. It practically puts the city in silent mode. Never used it around fire works/guns so cannot comment on that but as you said noise cancellation is pretty good already without the ANC. I think it would do the job for you..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Another aspect - you don't need to spend $350 just for blocking out firearm or fireworks sounds. A simple $35 3M earmuff will do the same job a lot better by providing general sound isolation by -35db. If you're not much into the over the ear thing, there are IE plugs that can also drop overall volume by 25-35db.

Please try again later.The passive isolation on the 1000XM2 and all audio headphones on the market for that matter are insufficient at effectively reducing high frequency noises. Of course, if you turn on the volume loud enough, you will be able to block out most of the noise at the expense of your hearing. With that said, please use proper, dedicated earmuffs rated for firearm and industrial use for your specific purpose.
