But at about half volume they don’t. I’m constantly in quiet places and have had no comments about my music being loud.

Thank you for your inquiry! When charging the WHCH720N to an AC outlet, you need to use the supplied USB Type-C cable and a commercially available USB AC adaptor(not supplied) capable of supplying an output current of 0.5 A (500 mA) or more.
When connecting the headphones to a computer, use only the supplied USB Type-C cable, and make sure to connect them directly. Charging will not be properly completed when the headphones is connected through a USB hub.
