For my Samsung 4k smart tv it's one or the other, but different tv's have different settings so it depends. I'd look up your tv model online and find out what it's bluetooth capabilities are, or find it in your tv's manual.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the headphones can be used at the same time others are watching TV in the same room. TV sound is only muffled a little unless you have the music on louder than the TV sound. You will have to experiment on the sound level of the music (through the headphones) vs TV that is most comfortable to you. Hope this helps.
