“i saw another Q and A with anker saying ANC + aux doesn't work, but at the store i got these from, the display model had the aux cord plugged in and ANC worked on those. the manual also says ANC only doesn't work if the battery is empty.”

That makes sense. I doubt if the aux cord charges the unit. It’s still good if you need them without Bluetooth for any reason.
