Best Buy does sell digital versions of games via gift card in the store. They have most popular games and some that don’t have a physical copy. You can also buy a Nintendo shop gift card and he could buy the game from his switch.

Should there be a game your son would enjoy more he would be able to purchase that possibly instead. It is also something that fits well into a birthday card!
