it gives you options if you wanna play with locals or online, online lets you play with people around the world! but you need to have switch online pass

Nintendo changed the way they connect people in online so that its faster to get connected to a match and so it doesnt glitch as often. I live in the city so its easier for me to connect online with people close by, where it might be harder if you live in less populated areas. It all depends how close other people are who are playing the game. Hope that helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nintendo is recommending a lan adapter to help with lag. I do not have one and I have only had bad lag in one game, and I have played 100’s. If you have a good router you should be ok. Not a great sign though that Nintendo recommends it after the holidays I’m sure the servers will be maxed out

However, my friends have told me that, while there's little to no lag, matchmaking seems to be all kinds of messed up - no specifications appear to be taken into account when you're randomly thrown together with three other people. General online consensus seems to say the same. I hope this helps a little.
